Power of Now!
Sometime as my lovely friend Jennie says – you just have to recognise that the universe wants you to get something and its got your back and all you have to do is go with it!!
Last Friday I worked from home which involved going to a yoga class with Jo. Whilst there I noticed a leaflet promoting a seminar today on a book called The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle…. I was advised to read this a while ago and found it quite a hard read emotionally…. I still wanted to read it but hadn’t quite got round to it…. The universe clearly thinks I should read it... I came up with all sorts of excuses as to why I couldn’t go but none of them stuck….and actually over the course of the past week I mentioned it to a few people including Vanessa my therapist and Claire my Pilates instructor…. They decided to come with me…. See above mentions about universe…I spoke to Jenni (not Jennie but equally as lovely!!) last night and she encouraged me to go along today and said look at the work present now split it into two.... pre sent.......... says it all really. I am where I am meant to be and I have to live in the present and accept it for what it is and enjoy it!!
So this morning with Vanessa and Claire I went along…. and wouldn’t you know that we reviewed chapter 2 – the chapter titled ‘The way out of pain’ the very chapter that had resonated with me so powerfully…. So deep breath and we went with it…
It was as powerful as I thought it would be and having Vanessa there was a big help… I have more work to do on this journey but finally it feels like I am making real inroads into it….
Afterwards I went for a run – rather than plan my route I thought I am going to be in the present and when I get to a junction I will decide which way to go…. It was a lovely run. I tried really hard not to visualise Ironman or other runs but to stay with how I felt on this run, in the here and now and accept it for what it is!
Jennie this is for you though…. How many flipin North Face couples were there in The Park today…. OMG!! It did test my powers of staying in the Now and being grateful for my run – I even had to resort to saying my new mantra so I didn’t focus on them and all that they represent…. My time will come and then I would hope that I can see a runner smiling away like I was today and say I enjoyed my time running buut I am grateful I am here with my love today….. And then I got to the back of The Copper Horse and a man was on a bended knee and I thought… REALLY REALLY universe…. I’ve gone with you enough today do you really want me to see this – and then as I got nearer I realised he was running his girlfriends cramping cold feet….. Perspective……………
Funny old day…. Funny old week…… vision board yesterday….. Power of Now today…. Brain hurting now so time to go and do some baking!

Work!
Sometimes you have a week at work that makes you think WOW!
Last week I knew was going to be a training disaster... but I hoped it would be a great work week! We had our Innovation Review with work - a 3 day review that I organise and host and that the Gillette President, several VPs and General Managers all attend along with just a few (30!) hangers on!
It was full on, stressful but REALLY good and I had a moment on Tuesday night after hosting a dinner for 10 of us that included Patrice (the president) and the VP's and a few others that I just went WOW!! If you had told me 12 years ago when I joined that I would be having that meal I would have laughed you out of town.... but there I was and the best thing was that it was a fun evening!
So that was a wow work... next week needs to be a wow training week!
